The Shewana Story
Welcome to Shewana Shepherd's Adoption Center!
Shewana's story began nearly 40 years ago with a single guiding principal.. To breed a German Shepherd Dog that improved and preserved our concept of what a true Shepherd should be.
For all these years we have held our dogs close to us as members of a growing family.
To accommodate this growth we built and developed our kennel facilities on 40 beautiful acres in northern Illinois, near the Wisconsin border.
Our land is surrounded by nearly 500 acres of conservation forest. Our property is irrigated by two natural streams, and has a 2 ½ acre pond, which our dogs frequently use to cool themselves on hot summer days.
It is here in this tranquil setting of nature that our breeding program grew and our love of the breed was nurtured.
Today, nearly 40 years later we have made the difficult decision to downsize our program and are extending the outstanding opportunity for the public to adopt one of our loving dogs as a personal companion and pet.
We know these magnificent animals will bring joy, love and comfort to those fortunate people who can make room for them in their family.
