.Potential adopter sends an application to SSAC. This can be completed and submitted online, or printed out and sent to us by US Mail.
.The application is reviewed by an experienced adoption specialist and the applicant is contacted via telephone or email.
.Quality applicants will be contacted to discuss the availability of adoption candidates and other pertinent information related to the dog and the family to determine the best possible match.
.A home visit may then be arranged and a SSAC Representative will set up an appointment to come to your home to meet your family, other pets and generally evaluate where the potential adopted dog will be living to ensure that this is a good home for the dog.
.After the home visit has been completed and approved, an appointment will be made with SSAC to meet the dog. We ask that all members of the household be present for the “Meet & Greet” to insure a good fit.
.Generally, the Adoption Coordinator in concurrence with Wilma Johnson (owner/breeder) will make the ultimate decision as to whether a particular dog is an appropriate candidate for a specific family or situation. It is imperative that the placement of a dog into a new home be carefully considered to insure a successful partnership between the dog and his/her new owners. We believe that this is the best approach for all, as we will have the most accurate information and thoughts on whether or not this placement would be in the best interest of the dog and the adopter.
.If steps 1-6 are complete and satisfactory, the adopter will set up a date to pick up their new family member if the adopter will be required to set up a date to pick up the new family member.
Because we are dealing with live animals and people, these rules cannot and will not be “set in stone”. SSAC is always looking out for the best interest of our dogs and the adopter. To that end, we reserve the right to refuse any Adoption Application.
